Rescuing my 2006 Travel Blog - In 2006 I stuffed my life in my parents’ loft and spent 13 months from Guatemala to Tierra del Fuego, live‑blogging 182 posts. Nineteen years on, I yanked exports from Blogger and Flickr, fed them to Claude, and rebuilt it all as a static Astro site on Cloudflare. We reconciled two messy archives (2,819 photos), rescued missing images (even from photos1.blogger.com), fixed rotten HTML, de‑duped re-encodes with cosine‑similarity thumbnails, inferred dates and places from 25k words, disambiguated a plague of beach.jpgs, folded in a CD‑ROM stash, marked truly lost hotlinks, and auto‑rotated 267 sideways shots with a small ResNeXt model. It’s cheap, static, and alive again at travellingchris.atomic14.com. What a time to be alive!
